Summary of meeting of Rochdale momentum & Rochdale friends of jeremy corbyn.
1. Women's Group speech by Alison Morris on International womens day vigil..
2. A Blairite proposal to launch an immediate coup against corbyn's popular mandate was mentioned. Apparently it is designed to elect a new labour leader and, by wihholding nomoinations in the PLP, without reference to labour party memebership, eliminate the Corbyn leadership. We do not yet have the full text published online. A counter resolution was generated by from a wallasey branch of the Labour Party related to a campaigner called pete willsman proposing that a current party leader could stand for election again even without nomination if he wished.
3. Tory cuts are terrible- collaboration and communications between councils to resist cuts mass cuts referenda to involve locals.
4. Many right wing labour councillors are complicit with the cuts and must be confronted but its too late to reselect them before the May elections now. As such, the labour party councillors offerings may well be to the right of the mmembership and voter base and this needs to be rectified. Opinion was split on whether these councillors should be replaced or persuaded. Some considered the fact that they are complicit in the first place to be indicative of a mindset which is too complicit in lethal and even murderous Tory policies and that persuasion was likely to be insufficient to recitfy the problem.
