We should be very aware of the politics of the candidate the CLP selects. I'm sure i dont need to remind you that any failure of the party to select a truly socialist and Corbynite candidate for parliament should be highlited as a failure of the party in the event we lose Copeland, not a failure of Jeremy. Of course, in the event that a genuinely pro Corbyn candidate is selected then I and others will be working very hard to help get that candidate elected with a huge majority and will encourage others to do so as well. The behaviour of the party hierarchy here with regards to candidate selection can open up the enthusiasm of new members like myself or can continue to marginalise us and lose our energy. This move to place a strong pro Corbyn supporter and an apparently relatively neutral MP in charge of Labour's copeland campaign could be cynically interpreted to imply theyre seeking to heap blame for a copeland loss onto corbynites. Alternatively, it could suggest that the party may be genuinely trying to represent the views of the membership when selecting who controls the party's important activities. Lets hope its the latter and pay attention to whats happening there and who the potential candidates are.
Here are some copeland candidates. does anyone know anything about them? Most specifically, I think we should be looking to oppose people who have run for election before as they are very likely to be right wingers. But More than that is necessary. We need to see how theyve supported Jeremy in the past.
Does anyone know anything about the potential candidates listed here?
