One of the most heinious affects of the internet has been the Americanising of our native language. Even people of a good education at one of the countries top grammar schools sometimes fall into the trap of American spellings such as "color or honor" where the spelling should be "colour and honour."

As a Romanian and intellectual :
1. I couldn't care less. language is a tool, not a goal. Unless you're a spinster teacher in the province where time stands still. DISASTER IS UPON US--WHO CARES ABOUT LETTERS IN A WORD?
2. maybe if UK culture was as prolific in exporting films and literature when I was growing up, I would've learnt to spell the British way.
3. Have I mentioned--the planet is dying? who cares??
4. I never heard an English person baffled by the word "color" asking me to define it because of the one letter. Functionality trumps form.
