OK
Some basics.
These should be easy to agree with but i want people to explicitly agree to ensure we are all on the same page.
I am also very open to being corrected where I'm wrong.
1) Conference is the supreme body of the labour party.
2) The local CLPs send delegates to conference who are elected at CLP meetings.
3) The National Executive Comittee generally controls the party and its staff on a day to day basis in all the national and regional offices.
4) The only meaningful tool conference has to control the NEC is by approving rules or sometimes orders, motions or policies which the NEC is bound by law to follow.
5) The senior member of staff the NEC appoints or has the power to dismiss is the general secretary.
6) MPs are selected by the CLP they seek to represent but the NEC must approve all MPs
7) the NEC has subcommittees which are responsible for discipline and suspending, investigating and expelling people from the party.
8) The NEC has a procedures subcomittee which controls elections for leader.
9) the party membership elects the leader of the party by one member one vote ballot.
===
The stuff below seems all pretty obvious to me, but there could be a disagreement somewhere along the way. So im happy to hear what you all think of it:-
The biggest problem in the party is MPs rebelling against the membership of the party and failing to represent their constituents who largely support Jeremy as leader. The most urgent order of business, therefore, is deselecting rebel MPs.
In Blackley and Broughton where we appear to have a fair minded and sincerely representative MP, Graham Stringer, who claims he opposed the motion of no confidence in Jeremy and so no deselection appears to be necessary. There are, however, many rumours about the possibility that Mr Stringer may resign. Therefore:-
B&B4JC ACTION 1) identifying and vetting and preparing highly representative, Corbynite and potential parliamentary candidates B&B4JC ACTION 2) Electing delegates from BLPs and affiliated unions to the CLP in readiness for the possibility of a local vacancy for a prospective parliamentary candidate.
To do this we need
a) a fair and representative NEC.
b) a fair General secretary
c) fair rules
d) fair CLP officers
e) representative delegates to conference
f) fair leadership elections
therefore:
B&B4JC ACTION 3) identifying and vetting and preparing highly representative and accountable delegates to conference
B&B4JC ACTION 4) Actively maintaining and populating the local party especially including branch and CLP official positions to promote a highly representative CLP to ensure highly representative and democratic delegates to conference and highly representative prospective parliamentary candidates selection lists are generated.
B&B4JC ACTION 5) Designing new rules which will optimally change the party towards a more representative and accountable structure.
B&B4JC ACTION 6) identifying and vetting and preparing highly representative and accountable CLP officers for running in the event of a local vacancy.
B&B4JC ACTION 7) Actively maintaining and communicating with Martin Connolly and Franklin to ensure that CLP officers are accountable.
Also:-
I personally beleive a) is the most important in that it controls b) and through its regulatory disciplinary and dispute powers, affects all of b c d e and f
